The Horngarth: Whitby town-centre rooms with Abbey views and a free parking permit
Abbey-View Rooms and Apartment
The Horngarth has seven rooms, including king rooms and a self-catering apartment. Room 4 has a four-poster bed and windows facing Whitby Abbey, the sea, and the 199 Steps. Rooms include bathrobes, slippers, and a mini fridge stocked with fresh milk, orange juice, and soft drinks.
Location and Parking
Whitby Abbey is 600 metres from the hotel, and the harbour, shops, and bars are within a short walk. The hotel provides a visitor parking permit for Skinner Street and nearby on-street zones, with unloading in the disc zone outside. The building uses a keypad entry for communal areas and offers private check-in and check-out.
The Pot and Pineapple Shop
The owners run The Pot and Pineapple shop below the rooms, selling British-made gifts, specialist chocolate, and liquorice. Guests can buy locally produced gelato and coffee in the shop and receive a resident discount. During The Pot and Pineapple's opening hours, complimentary coffee from the shop is offered to guests upstairs.
Guest Services
Daily housekeeping, CCTV in common areas, and non-smoking rooms are provided. The owners send detailed pre-arrival messages with parking instructions, restaurant recommendations, and check-in times. Guests have access to free late check-out when the room is not booked for the following night.
Room Extras
The mini fridge also contains water, lemonade, and Fanta alongside fresh milk and orange juice. A welcome bag holds cereal, biscuits, crisps, and sweets, with a jar of sweets on the bedside table. The wardrobe contains hairdryers, hair straighteners, an iron and ironing board, and a takeaway kit with plates and cutlery.
